Ideas & Inspiration:

Mid Nova Sleeper: Exclusive In-House Design

It all started with a simple, yet powerful concept; how can I make one item as multifunctional and flexible for parents as possible?

Combine an idea with unwavering passion for what you do, and we present to you the Nova Mid Sleeper. At Fantastic Furniture we continue to be passionate about developing great value products. As the cost-of-living rises, we endeavour to produce product that is considered, economical and something you’d be proud to have in your home.

The Features

Catering up to 5 different configurations, the Nova Mid Sleeper was designed with versatility at the top of the list. Depending on where you place the bed; against the wall in the centre or in the corner, you’ll still leave yourself with ample configuration options to be as creative as you like. As your kids grow, the Nova welcomes change and adaptability as they require space to learn and create.

The elevated single bed allows for the desk and lowboy to simultaneously be tucked underneath, or style separately away, reserving the space underneath as additional storage, or a creative retreat for the kids. The desk has been fitted with open shelving on the end and wheels to help manoeuvre it into place with ease when required.

All the dimensions of the Nova Mid Sleeper have been carefully designed and specified for a reason, with safety being the most critical consideration during the design process.

“All the dimensions of this bed have been designed and specified for a reason. Most importantly for safety, but also for aesthetics and functionality.” – Christophe, Product Engineer

The Design Process

When you’re looking at the result of a product, sometimes it’s hard to fathom that it all started with a pencil sketch. Combining elements of inspired craftsmanship from overseas, upcoming trends, and missed opportunities within the business, is just the beginning!

The Nova Mid Sleeper was designed with the brief in mind, that there are a lot of Australian families that live in apartments or have small bedrooms with limited, to no storage solutions. While concepting the design we knew we needed to be smarter with our use of space and create layers of functionality.

Once the concept is born, the next step is getting our Product Engineer onboard to start fleshing out possibilities, functionalities and starting to build it within our 3D software design. From here it’s a matter of trial and testing different configurations and getting into the mindset of the customer and how they’d interact with the product.
